The aim of the workshop was to build capacity of ICCN staff in their habitat monitoring skills within protected areas.

Seven people were trained. Among them, were Mr Matuba M. Baudouin (ERAIFT-ICCN) and Ms Kamana H. Florence (UNIKIN), who prepared their Masters thesis on ecosystem services in the Bombo-Lumene reserve with the assistance of RBINS.

The training consisted in exercises to recognize the different types of habitats and to collect standardized data on their evolution. The team also created a line transect through the forest located near the MUA track.

The 2 students and Ms Bokoma B. Eveline, a new young researcher at the Bombo-Lumene reserve will establish permanent plots along the transect to perform the census of the floristic composition and to study the changes in the forest structure.
