2015 MRV call
With the adoption of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the Aichi Biodiversity Targets in the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity, countries will have to formulate biodiversity indicators and gather data that will feed these.
One of the strategic objectives of the CEBioS programme is to improve the knowledge on the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) of policy choices and activities linked to biodiversity and ecosystem services.
We intend to work with our partner countries in the South on the development, assessment or implementation of indicators in the framework of their National Biodiversity Strategies. To this end, a first call on MRV projects is launched.
In 2015, eligible countries were: Benin – Burkina Faso – Burundi – DR Congo – Ivory Coast – Mali – Morocco – Niger.
Four projects were selected in Benin, Burundi and RD Congo. They are now finished and a closing workshop was organized in Cotonou in October to disseminate the results of the projects, notably among political and conservation actors of biodiversity. Policy briefs were created and a common scientific output is in preparation.
The full text of the call is available here. Information about the opening workshop and the reports of the projects are available below.
