Peru (only Phase I, now closed)

The CEBioS programme is involved in institutional strengthening of Peru, Instituto del Mar del Peru (IMARPE).

The project is entitled 'Tools for monitoring, managing and protecting vulnerable marine ecosystems along the Peruvian coast: development, training and best practices'.

The allocated budget (5 yrs) is ca. 75.000 Euro.

The expected outcome is that after five years, IMARPE is able to better monitor the dynamics of habitats in marine upwelling zones of the Peruvian coast, enabling them to inform the fisheries authorities which measures should be taken in order to promote sustainable fisheries, which is to the benefit of the local fish industry and the marine biodiversity.
