The Belgian Focal Point to the Global Taxonomy Initiative has officially launched its new call for proposals in regard to ‘taxonomic training and access to collections in Belgium’ for the year 2015.

Please note that the list of eligible countries for our support has been modified as from 2015. Only the following countries are eligible for our support: Algeria - Benin - Bolivia - Burkina Faso - Burundi - Cabo Verde - Cambodia - Cote d'Ivoire - DR Congo - Ecuador - Gambia - Ghana - Guinee - Guinee Bissau - Kenya - Laos - Liberia - Mali - Morocco - Mozambique - Niger - Nigeria - Palestinian Territory - Peru - Rwanda - Senegal - Sierra Leone - South Africa - Tanzania - Thailand - Togo - Uganda - Vietnam.

The 2015 call aims at funding short-term visits in Belgium for students, young researchers or trained taxonomists in order to help building scientific and technical expertise on biodiversity in the South.

It is very important that applicants clearly state in their project:
• How they plan to use their projects to advance research in their field;
• How they will disseminate their results (poster, publication, diploma, oral communication, etc…);
• How their project will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and/or ecosystem services in the partner country;
• How their project could (in a long or medium term) contribute to fight against poverty in the South.

Students/researchers who benefitted from GTI grants in 2014, who are still eligible, who have sent their reports and who have been positively rated by their tutors, will be given priority.

More information regarding the call can be found on our website here: http://www.taxonomy.be/gti_calls/grants_seekers/outside_be
