Seminar on Burkina Faso, new partner for the Belgian Development Cooperation
On Wednesday 9 September, DGD organised a seminar on the state of International Cooperation with Burkina Faso and the future of Belgian Cooperation in Burkina Faso. The seminar took place at Egmont Palace, Brussels.

During this technical seminar, at which participated experts from the European External Action Service (EEAS), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Belgian Development Agency (BTC), the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO), competent institutions from the Belgian federated entities and several non-governmental organisations, a summary of the existing cooperation with Burkina Faso was made. Possible future interventions were looked at in light of the needs, opportunities and Belgian expertise. Belgium wants to structurally support Burkina Faso in its democratic and socioeconomic development.
In addition to strengthening health services, there are opportunities on water supply, in agriculture, education, family planning and reproductive health and urbanisation.
As part of an integrated approach, the issue of food security will be included in the bilateral cooperation.
