During the launch meeting of the project ‘Digitisation of documents about biodiversity, present at the CSB’, in presence of the members of the CSB who will execute CHM-tasks, details of the methodology and an organigram were discussed. The presence of ir. Adelard Mutombo Kazadi, assistant Focal Point for the CBD at the National Ministry for the Environment, made it possible to discuss a number of technical issues related to the use of the website. The project will run until May 2017.

A series of meetings were organised to discuss the nature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences/CEBioS and the CSB. This MoU aims to provide a framework for several tasks which CEBioS wants to deploy in the DR Congo and which could be executed by the CSB. Prof Dudu Akaibe, director of the CSB; ir. Adelard Mutombo Kazadi, assistant Focal Point for the CBD at the National Ministry for the Environment; Joseph Litucha, Provincial Coordinator for the Environment and some of his co-workers, Constant Bafandu, ‘consultant au Ministre provincial for the Environment’ and a number of CSB staff were present and took part in the discussions. A first draft of a logical framework was prepared during the meetings. This agreement should become effective early in 2017.

In Kinshasa a meeting was organised with the VVOB-team and ir. Adelard Mutombo Kazadi to discuss the details of a project for a baseline study about the effect of sensitization projects in technical secondary schools executed by VVOB-RD Congo, in cooperation with the National Ministry for the Environment and the National Ministry for Primary and Secondary Schooling. This project should start early in 2017 to be finished by July.
