News GTI symposium on African ants at the RBINS

On 25th September 2015, for their last day at the RBINS, GTI trainees Mouhamadou KONE and Lombart Mesmer Maurice KOUAKOU gave short presentations on their work on ants species of Côte d'Ivoire.

The presentations were the following:

  • Identification et Numérisation des fourmis de Côte d’Ivoire (Afrique de l’Ouest) by Dr Mouhamadou KONE from l’Université Péléforo Gon Coulibaly

  • Evaluation de la diversité des espèces de fourmis anthropophiles, natives, exotiques et potentielles invasives en Côte d’Ivoire' by Lombart M. KOUAKOU from Université Nangui Abrogoua, Station d’Ecologie de Lamto.

Both researchers have spent a month at the RBINS entomology department in order to study and digitize ant speciments from Côte d'Ivoire under the supervision of Dr Wouter Dekoninck.

The trainings were funded by the Belgian National Focal Point to the Global Taxonomy Initiative.
