CEBioS participation in European One Health/EcoHealth Workshop

CEBioS, represented by Maarten Vanhove, took part in the local organising committee of the European One Health/EcoHealth Workshop, organised in Brussels, on 6-7 October.

Among other contributions, we aimed to increase the participation from scientists from the global South, by funding the participation of two speakers from Congolese partner institutions (prof. Désiré Badi Falay Sadiki, Hôpital Universitaire de Kisangani and Dr. Chantal Shalukoma Ndukura, Institut Congolais pour la conservation de la nature). To highlight the importance of interdisciplinary capacity building and education in this field, Maarten co-coordinated (together with Nicolas Antoine-Moussiaux, Université de Liège) the session "Education and capacity building". Through this workshop, we hope to have contributed to knowledge, awareness and networking regarding the importance of interlinkages between biodiversity and health, and of integrative approaches such as One Health, to research, policy, society and practice.
