CEBioS is committed to achieve SDG14 on marine life
The high-level UN Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 will be convened at UN Headquarters in New York from 5 to 9 June 2017, coinciding with World Oceans Day, to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14. The Conference aims to be the game changer that will reverse the decline in the health of our ocean for people, planet and prosperity. It will be solutions-focused with engagement from all.
CEBioS has registered 3 of his ongoing projects in the database of voluntary commitments, showing how Belgium is acting to achieve SDG14 in its partner countries (Benin, Peru and Vietnam).

Sustainable Development Goal 14 aims to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
CEBioS is working in 3 partner countries of the Belgian Development Cooperation to help researchers monitor the dynamics of coastal habitats and preserve the fragile biodiversity of these zones.
The projects currently undertaken by CEBioS to achieve SDG14 are the following:
- Application of the marine model for coastal shelf seas for the protection of the marine environment in Benin
- Capacity building for preserving marine habitats with marine models in Peru
- A marine modeling tool for monitoring, managing and protecting the vulnerable ecosystem Ha Long Bay in Vietnam: development, training and best practices
