Folder Yammouneh

Yammouneh Nature Reserve is located on the eastern slope of the Makmel and Mnaitra mountains at an altitude ranging between 1400 and 2000 meters above sea level. It is characterized by its rich water resources as it contains 84 springs in addition to four permanent and two seasonal rivers. The reserve contains Phoenician, Roman and Arab ruins and remnants of a castle which was a summer residence for the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The reserve is characterized by stands of juniper trees as well as a dense vegetation cover stretching over 30% of the reserve area which is about 2100 hectares.
