The Belgian Biodiversity Platform (BBPF) is a network of people and institutions funded by the Belgian Federal Science Policy to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between scientists in the field of biodiversity.
It supports interdisciplinary research and exchanges and facilitates synergies between scientific research and biodiversity-related policy. It is the Belgian node of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

The Belgian Federal Council for Sustainable Development (CFDD-FRDO) is an advisory body that provides advice to the Belgian federal authorities on the federal policy on sustainable development. The Council gives particular attention to the implementation of international commitments of Belgium, such as Agenda 21, the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity. In addition to its advisory duties the Council acts as a forum to encourage the sustainable development debate, for instance by means of organising symposia. It has also been given the task of sensitising organisations and citizens on the subject of sustainable development.
The Biosafety Advisory Council (BAC) is one of the two pillars (with the Biosafety and Biotechnology Unit - SBB) of the scientific evaluation system that has been set up in Belgium to advise the Federal and Regional competent authorities about the biosafety of activities involving genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and/or pathogens.
