This one-day workshop, organized at the RMCA, Tervuren, Belgium will present the preliminary results of the biodiversity expedition and preliminary conclusions of the Kisangani workshop to the broader biodiversity research community (ecosystems, management and conservation experts) to maximally valorize the gathered data and information. Participants will be the Belgian and other international participants in the expedition and their co-workers, a number Congolese participants in the expedition and interested colleagues from the broad scientific community.

During this workshop, it will be discussed how the data resulting from the fieldwork can be used (1) to design and fine tune further activities to monitor species loss, habitat threats and restoration, (2) to measure stress resulting from environmental degradation (pollution), and (3) to draft preliminary recommendations for conservation priorities and actions.

The Belgian Development Cooperation and Belgian Science Policy will be invited to the workshop as well as EU experts (Joint Research Centre Africa observatory-biodiversity team) and international NGO’s such as IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and WWF.
