News World Health Day (7 April)

The World Health Organization’s objective of scaling up the prevention, care, and surveillance of diabetes on World Health Day 2016 provides a timely opportunity to reflect upon the profound impacts of biodiversity loss and its consequences for human and planetary health. The conservation, sustainable use of biodiversity in agricultural landscapes, forests and other terrestrial ecosystems, seascapes and freshwater systems can contribute to dietary diversity and to reducing the rising global health threat posed by diabetes and diet-related diseases
through its potential contributions to healthier diets and food choices.
