Release date 27/09/2007

With the support of more than 50 partners such as nature associations, administrations and provincial units, the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences launched the engagement campaign “I give life to my planet!” in order to promote biodiversity in our country and to help biodiversity through small changes in our habits.

I commit myself, yes! But how ? There are many simple and accessible ways that will help biodiversity. You can choose your own engagements on the website www.vip.biodiv.be (VIP for BIODIVersity in BELgium). Persons, schools or organizations that are mobilized for our planet then become very important for biodiversity.

The website got a new look for the new school year. The site not only gathers all engaged persons but it also serves as platform in order to exchange information. The site provides many hints as to how fulfill your engagement but it also offers an insight on publications, games, expositions, movies, competitions, etc. on biodiversity. The website is thus a very easy and efficient tool for teachers and for those who want to know more about biodiversity.

The campaign and the website are accompanied by a little engagement notebook. This notebook can be obtained freely by mail biodiversite@sciencesnaturelles.be, by letter (Biodiversity, RBINS, Rue Vautier 29, 1000 Brussels) or by phone (02 627 45 45).

The notebook can also be downloaded:

So… why not make out of biodiversity your new challenge? Talk about the campaign all around you, offer the engagement notebook or display it for your visitors or clients, insert a hyperlink from other websites referring to the campaign, or talk about it in magazines, newspapers, etc!
