Active since august 2000, the study Chair on urban ecosystem is a member of the Institute od the Environmental sciences of UQAM since march 2002. It aims to answer the needs of infromations, of training and of researches on the urban ecosystems protection.
Its goals are:
- To create an interdisciplinary reflexion place allowing exchanges on the ecosystem functioning and its protection;
- To conduct researches in order to create knowledges and a know-how in the field of the urban ecosystem protection;
- To promote comparative and international studies in this field;
- To ensure a continuous training adapted to the needs of the stakeholders in the urban area;
- To give an opinion on the news related to the urban ecosystem and on its influence on the other ecosystems;
- To establish a contact network with the different government department, the companies and the environmental groups, to develop some partnerships which ensure a sustainable city.
