Full text of the objective 9.2 "Promote broad inclusion of biodiversity in environmental liability policy*" from the National Strategy

Brussels:

The biodiversity theme has been included in transposition of environment liability law.

Federal:

In course : transposition of directive CE 2004/35 on environmental liability , also specifically relatively to GMOs potential negative impacts . Active participation of BE in the elaboration of a liability regime in the context of the Cartagena Protocol .

Future actions:

• Take into account the evaluation of damage caused to biodiversity when transposing the EU directive into national legislations. This evaluation has to be done taking account of the cost of restoration or the cost of alternative solutions if restoration is not possible.
