Full text of the objective 6.1 "Explain the concept of ABS and disseminate widely information on ABS" from the National Strategy

Brussels:

Not really applicable for the Brussels Capital Region: only restricted use of OGM in laboratory.

Federal:

• Study on the awareness of Belgian users concerning ABS dispositions (and more specific the Bonn Guidelines).
• Development of ABS webpage of FPS portal

Future actions:

• Facilitate the ABS provisions of the CBD understanding and explain their relevance and implications. As the Bonn Guidelines are the most practical tool so far on the ABS provisions under the CBD, specific attention will be devoted to this instrument and its use will be encouraged;
• The EC ABS Portal (http://abs.eea.eu.int/index.php) that aims to establish a network of European stakeholders in ABS, could be used as a communication tool in order to share experiences on the issue;
• Workshop/information targeted to users of genetic resources.
