Introductions of non-indigenous species is forbidden.

Control on import and export : federal competence ?

Federal:

Royal Decree (importation, exportation and transit of non-indigenous wild bird species, exception made for birds bred in captivity). North Sea Belgian Law (20.01.1999) forbids the intentional introduction of non-indigenous species in the marine environment without special license (Art. 11, §1). The unintentional introduction of non-indigenous species via ballast water of ships can be prohibited by Royal Decree (Art. 11, §2). Ongoing: development of federal legal framework related to the introduction of IAS in Belgium
