Flanders:

Integration of projects for Natura 2000 and biodiversity conservation into European co-financing programmes

• MINA-plan 3 "thema Biodiversiteit": maatregelen en projecten koppelen aan de begroting

Brussels:

The biodiversity budget has been increased sice 2005 for the Natura 2000 implementations.

Future actions:

• Establishment of specific funds for biodiversity, integration of biodiversity in sectoral budgets and programmes (in particular in Research and Development plans and programs), establishment of partnerships with the finance and business sectors, etc;
• Investigate other innovative financial mechanisms, such as partnerships with the private sector;
• The federal level should investigate possibilities to use the Raw Material Funds for biodiversity.
