Hunting
The basis for the legislation relative to hunting goes back to the national Law on Hunting of 1882. Since then, it has been adapted to regional law and modified considerably. The situation in the Brussels Capital Region is the simplest to apprehend, since all species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles are completely protected. In Flanders, the Hunting Decree, adopted in 1991 and modified in 2001 and 2014, is implemented in five year hunting periods, with the current one running from 2013 to 2018. Lists of huntable species are adapted accordingly. In Wallonia, the main piece of legislation is the Hunting Decree of 1994, subsequently modified on several instances.
