National reports, thematic reports and CBD notifications

Parties are requested to submit periodic reports to the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. These reports serve to establish the degree of CBD implementation among the different Parties.

National reports are requested every four years. They synthesise national action in all areas covered by the CBD. Thematic reports are called for on a ad-hoc basis and cover a specific thematic area. Answers to CBD Notifications are either general provisions of information on a thematic or cross-sectoral issue or advice to the Secretariat.
