HTML Document Non-governmental organisations

Release date 24/09/2014

Non-governmental organisations form an essential pillar of biodiversity conservation in Wallonia. They are particularly involved at the level of the control of areas (creation and management of nature reserves), of legislative changes (pressure groups), of the implementation of new ideas (e.g. contracts for sustainable river management). It is also worth emphasizing the important activity of nature societies in the monitoring of biodiversity. Some major nature conservation organisations are Natagora (formerly Aves and RNOB), Ardenne et Gaume, Les Cercles des Naturalistes de Belgique and Jeunes et Nature. The main environmental federation is Inter-Environnement Wallonie, which is a network of Walloon environmental associations.
