Use of Genetic resources - the impact of a new regulatory framework on your R&D activities

workable system for access to genetic resources is crucial for the future of our life sciences and biotech companies. A new international legal framework has been set up, known as the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits arising from their Uitilisation. Since the adoption of the Nagoya Protocol, the matter of so called Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) has grown in importance. Regional and national implementing laws are currently under discussion. On October 2015, the EU Regulation 511/2014 of 16 April 2014 on compliance measures on ABS will come into full force. Work on additional (sector specific) guidance is ongoing. The federal and regional authorities are currently also establishing the Belgian legal framework on ABS.
An ideal momentum to learn about this new regulatory framework, exchange views with others, chech wether you are compliant with these new rules and to take part in the ongoing discussions.
