UNESCO Science Report: Towards 2030
Every five years, the UNESCO Science Report monitors the domestic and international enabling environment for Science Technology and Innovation (STI) worldwide. The 2015 edition “UNESCO Science Report: towards 2030” covers the period 2010–2015 and it profiles 140 countries and provides information on another 49. It monitors initiatives taken at regional and domestic levels since 2010 to create an enabling policy environment for STI and coherent policy frameworks, combining expert analysis with a variety of indicators of socio-economic trends, trends in higher education and in research and development (R&D) and innovation

The UNESCO Science Report: towards 2030 serves countries and regions to assess the implementation of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
Key government targets for higher education, research (investment, personnel, etc.) and sustainable development (such as the share of renewables in the energy mix) are presented to facilitate monitoring of progress. Since STI policies and strategies do not evolve in a vacuum, the report studies the influence of socio-economic, (geo-) political and environmental factors on STI policy and, in turn, the impact of STI policy on these factors.
