Symposium organised by the Westbanks consortium, Belspo and the Marine Board-ESF, Working Group on Marine Protected Areas
The symposium will focus on the North Sea as a model system to
investigate the use of scientific data in MPA planning. Different North
Sea states will present their viewpoints on how scientific information
underpins the decision process and provides guidelines for the
management of MPAs. A debate on the status of MPA management will
stimulate consultation between national and European policy makers, NGOs
and scientists.
