Alcoa Foundation - IUCN webinar series 2014: Success stories from NGOs on local sustainable action for energy in Europe

As part of the partnership between the Alcoa Foundation and IUCN in Europe, a series of webinars are organized for exchange between Alcoa and NGOs on success stories for sustainable actions to share best practices and raise awareness for nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, recycling, use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

This 1st webinar will focus on the exchange of ideas, knowledge and best practices for sustainable energy and in particular innovative ways for changing people’s minds on how they think and act to contribute to a sustainable energy future. This webinar will bring together Alcoa and NGO representatives to learn from experiences across Europe and discuss solutions to move forward on this important topic of sustainable energy and increase awareness and ideas for collaboration and concrete action.

This webinar will be part of the Alcoa Green Works Programme: In celebration of Arbor Day, Earth Day and World Environment Day, from April 21 to June 21
Alcoa employees volunteer to reduce their carbon footprint, recycle to save energy, and plant trees to replenish the environment. (For more information:

The webinar aims to:
• create a better understanding of approaches to increase sustainable action for energy at local level;
• strengthen learning and exchange vetween the NGO community and Alcoa in Europe on raising awareness and provide practical solutions for sustainable energy initiatives and campaigns;
• build relationships and improve awareness of the capacities of NGOs for future cooperation
through the Alcoa Foundation small grant programme in Europe.
