After 5 years of LIFE project DANAH useful experience was gathered in Flanders on managing NATURA 2000 sites in military areas. The cooperation between the project partners grew to a solid fundament for the durable preservation of these exceptional areas. On the other hand a variety of challenges still remains.
Through an interactive mix of presentations and terrain visits we would like to show the results of LIFE project DANAH and share our experiences with you. The main challenges for future biodiversity conservation practices will be discussed during a set of workshops. We aim for practical conclusions, suitable and adaptable within your daily work. During the terrain visits to the Training Area of Beverlo and the NATO Shooting Range of Helchteren a good overview of the wide variety of nature measures and their results will be shown.
We would very much like personnel directly or indirectly involved in nature management of military areas tocontribute to our interactive forum. Therefore we would be particularly honoured to welcome presentations ofexperts giving their insight expertise on sustainable nature management on military areas and large nature sites.
