Roy Haines-Young: Director of the Centre for Environmental Management (CEM) and Professor in Environmental Management in the School of Geography, University of Nottingham, and formerly led the Environmental Science and Policy Group (ESPG) within the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH). Although trained as a natural scientist, he has sought to develop a stronger social content in his recent work. He has worked extensively with the policy makers in Central Government and it agencies, and recognises the need to develop a science that is responsive to the wider public debates about environmental issues. He is adviser for environmental issues to research councils, but also Governmental Agencies and the European Commission. http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/geography/people/roy.haines-young

Roel Slootweg: a Dutch expert on integrated approaches for nature, water and society, ecosystem services and biodiversity, environmental assessment (EIA, SEA ESIA, etc.), participatory approaches, transparancy in decision making & project implementation of spatial interventions, and corporate social responsibility. http://www.sevs.nl/ENGELS/start.htm

Erik Gómez-Baggethun: holds a research fellow contract at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he works with the Etno-Ecology Lab and the Ecological Economics and Integrated Assessment unit. He is also associated researcher of the Social-Ecological Systems Laboratory, at the Ecology Department of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research interests are in ecological economics and political ecology, with a focus on integrated assessment of ecosystem services and resilience theory. More specifically, he focuses on frameworks for the accounting and valuation of ecosystem services and on analysis of adaptive capacity to environmental change at the community level. He has published about 20 scientific articles and book chapters and has worked as consultant for the European Environmental Agency and several international universities. He has been a lead author in the report of the international initiative ‘The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity’ (TEEB). http://www.eco2bcn.es/?q=node/48
