France provides €1 mln for biodiversity in Socotra

SANA'A, March 24 2010 - French Agency for Development (AFD) granted on Wednesday Yemen with €1 million for supporting the biodiversity in Socotra Archipelago.

The grant agreement signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and French ambassador to Yemen Joseph Silva comes under the joint cooperation between Yemen and donors to preserve biodiversity in Socotra Archipelago.

Al-Arhabi accented that the government pays more attention to Socotra Archipelago and its biodiversity, valuing highly the donors' support in this area.

Socotra Archipelago biodiversity project is supported by several donor countries and organizations such as France, Italy, Germany and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
