Workshop to discuss proposals of a new system of regulations allowing Socotri people to benefit from local biodiversity
The workshop in Hadibo, Socotra was held on February 3, 2011. About 40 representatives of key stakeholders were present. The event was chaired by Abdul-rahman Al-Eryani, the Minister of Water and Environment.

The workshop in Sana’a was held on February 3, 2011 in Shahran hotel. The event with approximately 30 participants was chaired by Mahmoud Shidiwah, SGBP National Project Director.
The International Environment Law Adviser Dominique Normand and her Yemeni counterpart Sultan Al-Jarady presented their proposal of gate fees for Socotra visitors, which would generate income for the Socotra Environment Fund assigning financial grants for initiatives from eco-tourism, fishing, waste management, biodiversity, natural resources management sectors.
