This study addresses the dynamic spatio-temporal Megaphrynium macrostachyum in the Forest
Reserve Yoko. The following data were collected: - floristic inventory of trees ~ 10 cm dbh (diameter at breast height) superior or egal to 10 cm (ten centimeters) on an area of2 ha (1 ha to the north and another south of the river Yoko) - Counting on 6 quadrats (2 m x 2 m) of the number of petioles
Megaphrynium macrostachyum and seedlings of woody species - counting regrowth after cutting Megaphrynium macrostachyum on 16 plots of 4 m2 each one in Iwo sites: Site A (medium disturbed by human activities near residential) and B (undisturbed). The composition of plant species that accompany Megaphrynium macrostachyum varies not only from one place to another but also in terms of species present in immediate Marantaceae plots.
The high density of Megaphrynium macrostachyum plays a role in the colonization of woody species. Indeed, the high density of this species is the basis of slower evolution of the Marantaceae splots to mature forest because plants in recent choke the seedlings of woody species. The short cutting of Megaphrynium macrostachyum causes a slow-growing species and leads to the production of small leaves. The cutting-down part IS a method recommended.
