The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the University of Eastern Finland are organizing the already traditional two-week course on multilateral environmental agreements, this time with a special focus on "Synergies among Biodiversity Related Conventions".

The University of Eastern Finland began its operation last year as a merge of the University of Joensuu and Kuopio. The University of Eastern Finland - UNEP course on Multilateral Environmental Agreements is the same as the University of Joensuu - UNEP Course on International Environmental Law-making and Diplomacy.

In order to get good participants also this year from the EU countries or from the Commission, I would kindly request you to forward the attached course announcement to your capitals. The dead-line for applications is 31 May 2011.

The course is intended for experienced government officials from South and North, engaged in international environmental negotiations. In addition, other stakeholders, such as representatives of non-governmental organizations and the private sector, researchers and academics, may apply to the course. As the Course's thematic focus is on biodiversity, candidates with experience in this field are encouraged to apply.

If you have any questions, please contact directly the course e-mail address: mea-course@uef.fi
