News ‘Avoided deforestation in DR Congo to combat climate change’ panel discussion, 8/11/07, Lisbon

The Belgian Development Cooperation organizes on Thursday 8 November 2007 at the European Development Days in Lisbon the panel discussion ‘Avoided deforestation in DR Congo to combat climate change’.

The panel discussion will convene different stakeholders with the objective of stimulating operational and innovative partnerships and sustainable financing mechanisms for the payment of environmental services provided by the forests in DRC. The panel discussion takes place as a follow-up to the International conference on sustainable management of the forests in the DRC (Brussels, 26-27 February 2007) and in execution of the Declaration of Brussels. The European Development Days (EDD) constitutes the framework in which the panel discussion takes place. The EDD is a high level event, organized by the European Commission in Lisbon from 7 to 9 November 2007. Theme for this year’s edition: “Will Climate change Development?”
