The Cambridge-Africa Alborada Research Fund was established with generous support from The Alborada Trust, to help researchers from the University of Cambridge and sub-Saharan African institutions, across all disciplines, to initiate and/or strengthen research collaborations by providing funding for research costs (such as reagents, fieldwork and equipment). The Alborada Fund also enables collaborators to travel between Cambridge and Africa, and to conduct research training activities in Africa (e.g. setting up courses/workshops).

Furthermore, African fellows who are members of on-going initiatives of the Cambridge-Africa Programme (i.e. MUII, THRiVE, and CAPREx) and their Cambridge mentors/collaborators are also encouraged to apply for funds jointly, for activities that add value to their existing research projects.
